Written reasons of the Board will refer to the names of the complainant and non-professional witnesses only in a de-identified form. Confidential and personal details are referred to in the written reasons to the extent that is necessary and are disclosed in such a way as to minimise embarrassment and distress.

Where the Board has made a finding of “unprofessional conduct of a serious nature”, the psychologist will be identified in the written reasons. This is a consequence of the Board’s role in protecting the public and the public’s right to know if serious adverse findings have been made against a psychologist by the Board in a formal hearing. Where the Board has made a finding of unprofessional conduct not of a serious nature or makes no finding of unprofessional conduct, the Board will offer the psychologist the option of being referred to in anonymised form or by their own name, in accordance with its policy.
