COMPLAINTS

The role of the Board is to protect the public. In protecting the public the Board is responsible for investigating complaints about psychologists and determining what action is necessary to take. Complaints to the Board are called notifications.

The Board has the power to investigate notifications about the professional conduct and professional performance of all registered psychologists. It also has the power to investigate concerns that a registered psychologist's ability to practise is impaired as a result of a health issue. What actions the Board will take during an investigation and what the outcome will be will depend upon the nature of the matter and the issues under consideration. Information about the Board's role in dealing with the different types of notifications is contained in the information sheets available below.

The Board can only do its job of protecting the public properly if members of the community share with it concerns they have. To make a notification to the Board about a registered psychologist the notification form needs to be completed and sent to the Board (see form below). Details about how the form may be sent are set out on the form.
