Practice protection for psychological tests
In its submission on the proposed national legislation (draft Bill B), the PRBV requested that the bill include practice protection for psychological tests to ensure that only registered general and specialist psychologists carry out the assessment of the results of psychological testing. The Council of Psychologists Registration Boards of Australasia (CPRB) also requested this inclusion. The PRBV response to draft Bill B can be found here and the CPRB response can be found via this link.
Revised Supervision Guidelines – 1 December 2009
The revised Supervision Guidelines for the PRBV’s Supervised Practice Program have recently been approved by the Minister for Health. Provisional psychologists and supervisors affected by the changes will receive a letter from the PRBV shortly. Provisional psychologists currently undertaking the Supervised Practice Program, supervisors and all new applications for provisional registration must comply with the revised Guidelines. For a list of the key changes to the Guidelines please click here (PDF). To view and/or download the new Guidelines please click here (PDF). The PRBV recommends that all current and prospective provisional psychologists and supervisors read the Guidelines to fully understand the requirements of the Supervised Practice Program.

The PRBV will hold several information sessions for supervisors in November to assist in making a smooth transition to the new Guidelines. The dates for these sessions will be provided in the PRBV’s letter.
